By Marco Weening. This was a daily devotion for King's Arms Church that we reposted here.
“The less Holy Spirit we have, the more we need coffee and cake to keep the church going.” Reinhard Bonnke
The church is just a social club without the Presence of the Holy Spirit. I’ve been reading through Acts in this season and it never fails to inspire me to pray for such an awakening and revival like we see in the Scriptures.
Many books have been written about how revivals start. Many podcasts, sermons and conversations are about finding the key to revival. The reality of course is that God cannot be put into a box and He seems to be way more creative in bringing restoration to our world than we are.
Having said that, the very last words of Jesus before His ascension are these: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you” Acts 1:8
Everything changed as soon as that happened in Acts. Peter suddenly got really clever and brave. The church was born in revival, true discipleship was happening all over, the miraculous was evident and they were in for a spot of persecution. What a treat.
We have that same Holy Spirit living inside of us. Thank you Jesus. At the same time I’m praying and asking for another miraculous move of God. I don’t mind how and I don’t mind through who. Let’s pray for more.
Ideas to pray for more:
- Lay hands on your walls and pray for Holy Spirit presence for your neighbours. You can do it as a whole family.
- Ask Holy Spirit for a strategic prophetic word for your local church and send it in.
- Ask God for one colleague or family member that He wants to bless and then pray for them to experience God in their home. Ask Holy Spirit to give them visions, dreams, nudges and supernatural peace.
Let’s rely more on Holy Spirit than good coffee.
Ps. Also check out our Miracle Nights that we are hosting online every Tuesday. Everyone welcome.
